The Marinas on Lake Loudon
The History
In August of 1995, two brothers from Maryville, Tennessee, David and Roger Kiger bought the restaurant and marina at Willow Point in South Knoxville, Tennessee. Kiger’s at Willow Point became an immediate hit as a great place for fine dining on Ft. Loudon in South Knoxville and a marina with a friendly, neighborhood personality.

When they decided to put together an investment group to build Volunteer Landing Marina in the business, sports & social hub of downtown Knoxville, one of the first investors was Dick Brown, another Knoxville resident. The team was forming to create this evolving multi-marina concept.

When Volunteer Landing opened in 1999, the new concept really began to take shape and Mary Nell Osbourne came on board as a strategic consultant in 2000. Next the team acquired Fox Road Marina in early 2001. The new company had a full complement of marinas that covered Ft. Loudon Lake and a new name that reflected it...The Marinas on Lake Loudon.

The Boats

With an ambitious slogan of ‘All styles of boats for all styles of boaters,’ The Marinas on Lake Loudon is the only group of marinas in the area with new boats in the water, ready to test drive.

According to Boating Life Magazine, only 20% of first-time boaters will test drive a boat before making a purchase. At The Marinas on Lake Loudon, they can put customers in Regal runabouts ($19,000-80,000) and Regal cruisers ($19,000-$900,000).). The obvious question is, would you buy a Mercedes without taking it for a test drive? At a dealership, typically a deposit is required and some logistics are involved to get the customer to a demo.

Shop for a boat at The Marinas on Lake Loudon and in just a matter of minutes, you can be out on the water, judging how the boat handles at low and full throttle, crosses some chop, takes a few speed turns… things you’d never find out on the showroom floor. The Marinas on Lake Loudon also has one of the region’s largest inventories of pre-owned and brokered boats.
